After a really short night we woke up early and had a quick breakfast. Prof. Schellhase told us to go to Fresenius on our own, so we took the metro – but never take the metro in Hong Kong. There were around 100 people in a small compartment. We were still a bit tipsy so it was hard to survive the ride.

At Fresenius we got some cool drinks and a really smart lady presented the future business plans of Fresenius. Fresenius – the leading company for medical care – wants to expand in Asia-Pacific. To sum up, it’s a big market with great opportunities and there’re only a few competitors, like B. Braun for example.

German Chamber of Commerce

Karina Ernst, representative of the GCC told us about their important function for companies who want to gain ground in Hong Kong. They support these companies with stats and information. After her presentation we had a short discussion with the representative and we also spoke about the daily life in Hong Kong – for example the extremely high prices for apartments in Hong Kong means that most people live in small flats outside of the town.

TV Studio Reuters, Hong Kong

In the morning of our final day in Hong Kong we had to pack our suitcases. On the way to the airport we stopped in the city for the final company visit at Thomson Reuters. The news agency Reuters is located inside a mall, which was at first a bit confusing for us. Three representatives of Reuters explained  to us the “business of news”. For example, to stay up to date Thomson Reuters integrated social media posts to their news-software. That’s because social media is so important and also a competitor for news agencies

Finally, we arrived at the airport early afternoon, but there was a problem – our flight to Shanghai was cancelled.  We had to wait for about 5 hours for the next flight. This plane was late, so that we were afraid of missing our connecting flight to Frankfurt, but we were lucky. The plane to Frankfurt waited for us - more than an hour.
